ICOM Enters Second Phase of its Reopening Plan

In continuation of its plan to gradually resume normal operations, the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM) will enter into the second phase of its reopening plan beginning Monday, May 18.

In this second phase, ICOM employees returning for on-campus work must adhere to guidelines regarding physical distancing, personal protections, assurance of personal hygiene and in-person gatherings. The utilization of face masks is required in common areas on the first and second floors and episodic temperature checks will be performed at entrances.

Additionally, students may return to campus for independent study but must remain on the first or second floor in a reserved study room. Students may not enter laboratories or lecture halls, and must adhere to guidelines regarding physical distancing, personal protections, assurance of personal hygiene and in-person gatherings.

Face masks are available at ICOM’s main entrance. At-risk employees and students may not enter the building. Non-essential visitors are not allowed on campus at this time. Non-essential travel for employees is limited and 14-day isolation guidelines are still in effect after returning from out-of-state travel for both employees and students.

“Our Reopen ICOM Task Force takes into consideration state and local guidelines when issuing recommendations,” said Dr. Tracy J. Farnsworth, ICOM President. “We’re taking a measured approach that would allow ICOM to return to full institutional operation over an appropriate period of time.”

The Reopen ICOM Task Force continues to meet and will release recommendations for Phase 3, which is anticipated to begin on Monday, June 1. In the interim, ICOM’s Day Porter continues to execute an intensified custodial plan to ensure employees return to a fully sanitized building.
