As of June 26, 2022, the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine maintains its “mask optional” status on campus.

The College’s COVID-19 Task Force decided to allow masks to be optional in the common areas on campus. This decision coincides with the COVID community level in Ada County dropping from “high” to “medium.” According to CDC guidance, masks are not required unless the community level is high. 

ICOM encourages and fully supports everyone to follow the mask wearing practices that make them feel most comfortable. Individuals choosing to wear a mask for any reason should feel empowered to do so. Any student or employee looking for an N-95 mask or a rapid COVID test can stop by the reception desk to pick one up.

Although the mask optional policy applies to all common areas on campus, course directors will decide if cloth or N-95 masks will be work in close contact, in-person training.

The continuation of the “mask optional” status does not indicate that ICOM believes the pandemic is over, or that our need to be vigilant and responsive has come to an end. The College will continue to closely monitor available data, consult relevant experts and react appropriately in case of rising health threats, as it has done for the last two years.
