Madison Summers, Class of 2024, has been named ICOM’s 2022-2023 Student Doctor of the Year (SDOY).
Each year, the ICOM Student Government Association requests nominations of students who demonstrate the principles of leadership, community service, dedication and professionalism. Osteopathic medical colleges across the country select one student from their respective institutions to compete for the national SDOY award.
Student Doctor Summers is currently completing her clinical rotations in Idaho’s Treasure Valley area. She currently serves as President of the Class of 2024 and is the National Advocacy Liaison for Omega Beta Iota: The National Osteopathic Political Action Honor Society. Student Doctor Summers also served as the Secretary/Treasurer of ICOM’s Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/Gyn) Club during the 2021-2022 academic year.
“Being selected as ICOM’s SDOY is a huge honor! I am extremely humbled and appreciative for the opportunity to represent ICOM at the national level,” said Student Doctor Summers. “The community here at ICOM has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally in ways I could have never imagined when entering medical school as a first year student, and I look forward to the continued growth as my classmates and myself transform into young physicians.”
As Student Doctor of the Year, Summers will represent the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine for the national Council of Osteopathic Student Government President’s SDOY competition this spring.
