Hailey Barab, OMS-III has been chosen as the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Student DO of the Year. 

Student Doctor Barab is currently completing her clinical rotations in Idaho’s Magic Valley area. She impressed the College’s selection committee with her extensive leadership experience — including her most recent position as Vice President of the National Student Society for the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOOG) — her dedication to medicine, and providing opportunities for growth for herself and peers, such as founding the Reproductive Advocacy Committee. 

“I am so honored and overjoyed to have been chosen as ICOM’s Student DO of the Year,” said Student Doctor Barab. “I’m surrounded by brilliant and hard-working peers and I feel that I have found a community where I can thrive and grow to my fullest potential. I have never felt so supported and valued as I have been here at ICOM.”

Student Doctor Barab’s generosity is shown through her many hours spent volunteering with various organizations, including being a Dignity Healthcare Doula. She was also a member of ICOM’s American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA).

Student Doctor Barab will now be in the running for the National Student Doctor of the Year Award, presented by the Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents (COSGP). This award is given each year to a student who exemplifies the following five qualities: leadership, commitment to community service, dedication to the profession, professionalism, and embodiment of the osteopathic philosophy.
