Student doctors at ICOM connected with Idaho legislators and state leaders during the College’s sixth annual “ICOM Day at the Capitol” event on Tuesday, March 4.

ICOM President, Dr. Tracy Farnsworth, accompanied by ICOM Associate Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Thomas Moorman and Associate Dean of Osteopathic Integration, Dr. Sarah Davis, joined the students at the statehouse. Organized by ICOM’s chapter of the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA), the group spoke with legislators from across the Gem State about graduate medical education, health care issues, and the role ICOM plays in helping to address Idaho’s physician shortage.

This annual advocacy-centered event provides students with a behind-the-scenes look at the state’s legislative process, as well as a platform to discuss important topics with lawmakers.

After mingling with legislators on the first floor of the rotunda, the group had the opportunity to visit with Idaho Lt. Governor Scott Bedke in the Ceremonial Office. They also spent time in the Senate Gallery, where they were recognized by the legislative body.
